“GET YOUR GREEN ON”

Today is April 10th “Get Your Green On” Day and as a Senior Patient Safety Strategist, I want to tell you why wearing this color matters far beyond just a fashion choice.

In the world of Critical Incident Management, we know that the best way to handle a crisis is to catch the “weak signals” before they become a catastrophe. In healthcare, those signals are caught through early detection.

April is Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Month, and the message for 2026 is clearer than ever: Early Detection = Better Outcomes. We aren’t just talking about “prevention” (because we know we can’t stop everything 100%); we are talking about risk mitigation and giving you the power to change your trajectory.

The 2026 “Safety Check”: What You Need to Know

This year, the science has given us even more tools to stay ahead of the curve. If you haven’t checked the latest guidelines, here is your “Strategist’s Briefing”:

Food as Medicine: Your Daily Defense

At the Tufts University conferences I attend, we focus heavily on the “load” we put on our bodies. Cancer prevention isn’t just a medical appointment; it’s a daily architectural choice.

Why We Advocate

As a Medicaid-approved Case Manager and Victim Advocate, I see the gaps where people fall through. Whether you are in a rural medical desert like Waller County or a non-rural pocket of Fort Bend, the “system” can be a maze.

My role and the role of my elite field team is to act as your Patient Safety Hub. We don’t just tell you to “get a test”; we use our Healthie EHR to monitor your journey, advocate for your insurance coverage, and provide that 48-72 hour follow-up that ensures you are never navigating a new diagnosis alone.

Your Call to Action: Share the Green

Today, I’m asking you to do three things:

  1. Wear Green: Show your community that you stand for Early Detection.
  2. Audit Your Schedule: Open your calendar. If you are 45+ and haven’t had a colorectal screen, or 40+ and haven’t had a mammogram, book it today.
  3. Share This Post: You might be the “weak signal” that reminds a friend to save their own life.

Early detection isn’t just a medical goal; it’s a patient safety right. Let’s be proactive, stay navigated, and reduce the burden of cancer together.
